Uses For Small Space Heaters

Small space heaters are usually very light weight and portable, so they can be used just about anywhere in a home.  Even though you might think that you have no use for one, you never know when it might come in handy.  It is better to spend the twenty or so dollars to purchase a small space heater before you need one for something like an emergency and you are not able to run out and make the purchase at that time.  Here are some examples of uses for small space heaters.

Owning one or more small space heaters can come in handy if there is a power outage or other problem with the heating system in your house that causes little or no heat to be produced when the outdoor temperatures are below freezing.  During winter months, many people experience their furnace breaking down and sometimes it can take a day or more for a repair team to get to the home to fix the problem and restore the heat in the home because they have so many calls of this nature.

Although it is not an emergency situation, another main use for a small space heater is to add extra warmth to certain rooms during the colder winter months of the year.  This can be done for several different reasons.  Some people use a small space heater in specific rooms of the house because the occupants of those rooms, such as young children or elderly family members, cannot deal well with being cold and the heating system for the house cannot produce the required amount of heat to keep them comfortable.  Others use small space heaters in the rooms where they spend the most time because that allows them to turn down the thermostat for their whole house which can save them money on their heating bill.  In addition, there are people that will use a small space heater to warm their bathroom and then turn it off right before taking a shower or giving a child a bath so that the room does not feel so chilly while they are wet.  Another use for a small space heater is to give warmth to a pet bird or aquarium of fish when the room they are in does not get sufficient heat from the regular heat system of the house.

There are also uses for small space heaters outside the home.  It is actually rather common for people to have one or more small space heaters hooked up in their garage or shed to heat the area during chilly mornings or evenings or throughout the winter months.  Some people will turn on the small space heater in order to heat a work area, such as a tool bench, only while they are in the garage repairing or making things.  Others will use space heaters to heat their garage in cold weather in order to give their pet dog a warm place to stay when it is too cold for it to live in the dog house.
